How to Fix Instagram Not Working

Last Updated on July 23, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Is Instagram not working for you and you want to fix it?

Instagram has been in the market for more than a decade now.

Since then, they have been updating the application.

However, you might come across or get some bugs, glitches, or error messages on the app.

They do not reply to their emails that is why you cannot reach Instagram’s support.

That is why the best bet is to try to solve the issue by yourself.

To get started, you can visit the Instagram Help Center to get answers to your questions.

In this post, I will tell you why is Instagram not working and how to fix common error messages including the action block.

Why is Instagram not working

Instagram is not working because you are action blocked or it’s down.

You will receive the majority of error messages on the Instagram app instead of the website.

The action blocks are, “Try again later”, “Couldn’t refresh feed”, and so on.

These error messages will usually be removed after some time automatically.

At times, it can take more than 48 hours for them to vanish.

Therefore, it is highly recommended that you have to be patient and abstain from using Instagram during that period.

Throughout the year, Instagram has been down multiple times.

If you face any errors on the Instagram app, the first step is to ensure if it is down.

How to fix Instagram not working

To fix Instagram not working, you have to wait for 24-48 hours or set your date and time automatically.

But before you do that, you should check whether Instagram is down.

It can be done by going to the website of DownDetector.com and go to “Instagram”.

After opening the website, the next step is to check for a huge spike.

If you come across a huge spike, Instagram is most likely down and you need to wait for it to be online again.

In addition, the status of Instagram can also be checked by following Instagram on Twitter.

If the outrage is globally, Instagram will tweet about it on Twitter.

The last way you can use is to switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.

This option is helpful if your IP address is blocked by Instagram temporarily.

By changing your network from Wi-Fi to mobile and vice-versa, your IP address will be changed and the ban will be lifted and the error message will be gone.

Here are 4 ways to fix Instagram not working.

Method 1. Check if Instagram is down

Before you start doing anything, you should check if Instagram is down.

It is the most common reason why Instagram is not working so you need to ensure that it is not down.

When Instagram is down, you can also get “Couldn’t refresh feed” error.

In this case, you will not be able to refresh your feed even if you have a working internet connection.

To check if Instagram is down, the ideal way is to go downdetector.com and check it.

After opening the URL, search for “Instagram” and visit it.

Now, the next task is to check if there’s a spike on the graph.

If the graph displays a huge spike on it, it means that plenty of users are facing error on the platform.

In short, there is a great chance that Instagram is down.

To confirm this, use Twitter and search for the term “Instagram down” on Twitter and check the latest tweets.

If the Twitter has a lot of recent tweets on “Instagram down”, Instagram is most likely down.

Additionally, the official Twitter account of Instagram can also be checked to get updates.

The tweet will be published about it there if Instagram is down worldwide.

Instagram may take a few hours to fix the issue from their end.

Method 2. Wait for 24 to 48 hours

The second way is to be patient and wait for 24 to 48 hours.

Do not post, like or comment on the IG app during this period.

If you are facing an action block, it is an ideal choice.

The action blocks can be of several types.

The action blocks are “Try again later”, “Couldn’t refresh feed”, “Couldn’t create thread” and so on.

If there is an error message, it indicates that you are blocked due to repeated action.

For instance, if you’re unfollowing too many users very fast, you’ll be action blocked.

Instagram is doing it to stop spammers and bots on the platform.

If you are blocked from the app, you need to wait for 24 to 48 hours.

After 24-48 hours, the error message will be automatically lifted.

In some cases, it may not take more than an hour.

Method 3. Set your date and time automatically

If your date and time are incorrect, it will result in a lot of issues on the Instagram app.

The reason of this is that your date and time will not be synced.

The most common error that you’ll get with an incorrect date and time is that Instagram stories won’t load or show up.

It can be fixed by settings your date and time automatically.

Here’s a step by step guide on how to do this on an iPhone/iOS device:

  1. Firstly, go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap on “General”.
  3. Tap on “Date & Time”.
  4. Now, enable “Set Automatically”.

After enabling “Set Automatically”, your date and time will be set automatically.

Now, the next step is to force close the Instagram app.

If you’re on a new iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and swipe up the card of Instagram to close it.

In the end, re-open Instagram and the problem that you’re facing (for instance. Instagram stories not loading) should be fixed.

Method 4. Move from Wi-Fi to mobile data (and vice-versa)

The last solution that you can use is to switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data and vice-versa.

This solution will also solve the error messages including the “challenge_required” error and the “Feedback Required” error.

By moving from Wi-Fi to mobile data and vice-versa, it will change your IP address.

Therefore, if Instagram imposed a temporary block on your IP address, it will be removed.

Switching from mobile data to Wi-Fi and vice-versa can also solve other error messages that you might get on Instagram.

Here are the steps on how to do so on an iPhone/iOS device:

  1. Swipe down from the right corner of your screen.
  2. Tap on the “Wi-Fi” icon to turn on or off Wi-Fi.

If you’re using mobile data, you need to turn on the “Wi-Fi” icon and use a Wi-Fi network near you.

Alternatively, if you’re already connected to a Wi-Fi network, you need to switch to mobile data by turning off the “Wi-Fi”.

After doing so, force-close the Instagram app, re-open it and see the error message should be fixed.

Final Words

You can have patience and wait for the error messages on Instagram to be lifted on their own.

Most error messages will be automatically gone within 48 hours.

In some cases, you may have to wait for an additional hour or less.

Similarly, if Instagram is down, the best solution is to wait for the team of Instagram to fix the issue from their end.

Unfortunately, it’s very difficult for users to get in touch with Instagram support center.

The only method you can use is to purchase an ad on Facebook and contact Facebook business support.

A contact button will be shown on the page a few days after purchasing an ad.

If your Instagram account is disabled, submitting this form will help you to restore it: https://help.instagram.com/contact/437908793443074.

After submitting the form, you need to wait to get Instagram’s response.

Instagram will require a selfie of yourself holding a handwritten code and you need to send it to verify your identity.

If successful, your Instagram account will be recovered and you can start using it after logging in to it.

How to Fix Instagram Stories Not Showing Up

Last Updated on July 22, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are Instagram stories not showing up on your feed and do you want to fix it?

Your stories timeline will be completely blank if the stories of Instagram are not displayed.

You will not be able to see the stories of anyone else and only your profile picture with “+” icon will be shown to you.

Previously, there is a chance that Instagram stories were working fine, but when you open the Instagram application, you will not see them now.

It is irritating when they are not showing up and you cannot keep yourself up with the stories of people that you are following.

So why is this happening? In this post, I will tell you why are Instagram stories not showing, and how to fix them.

Why can’t I see Instagram stories?

You can’t see Instagram stories because you’ve used a sticker in one of your stories or you have changed your date and time recently.

You will not be able to see stories on IG if you changed your date and time recently.

It is happening due to an incorrect date and time on the app of Instagram, and will stop the stories from showing up.

In some cases, Instagram may be down, so you need to ensure if Instagram is down first before you try to fix the issue.

Secondly, if a music button is used by you on your story, it may result in a glitch.

The Instagram music sticker is famous for causing errors in the app.

So, if you will use the music sticker in any of your stories, the sticker will cause a glitch and as a result, the stories will not show up on your timeline.

Using other stickers in your stories on Instagram might cause other stories to not show up on your timeline too.

However, if you used other stickers, it can become the cause of the problem too.

Some Instagram stickers cause bugs to your story timeline, so if you are using them on your story might cause the stories of other people to not show up.

How to fix Instagram stories not showing up

To fix Instagram stories from not showing up, the first step is to set your date and time to automatic or delete your Instagram stories from a desktop if you used an IG sticker in your stories.

If your IG stories are not showing up, it’s either happening because of an incorrect date and time or due to a sticker glitch.

To fix these errors, the first thing is to set your date and time to automatic and remove your Instagram stories from the desktop version.

You will find many generic and ineffective solutions for this on the web.

For instance, a lot of people might guide you to uninstall and reinstall Instagram, clear the cache of the app, but none of it actually works.

But after doing a lot of research, I have found these two solutions that work the best.

There are 2 working methods to fix Instagram stories not showing up:

Method 1. Set your date and time to automatic

The first way to fix Instagram stories from not showing up is by setting your date and time to automatic.

If you’ve recently changed your date and time, the date and time may not be in sync with Instagram.

Have you recently changed the date and time on your phone? If yes, you may have not changed it back.

If the date and time are incorrect, it will stop IG stories from showing up on your timeline on Instagram.

To get stories to show up on Instagram again, the best solution is to set your date and time back to automatic.

In addition, you may have forgotten to change your date and time back to automatic.

The most common reason why IG stories are not showing up is due to an incorrect date and time.

If you want your stories to show up on your timeline again, your task is to set your date and time to automatic.

Otherwise, you will not see other people’s stories on your feed.

Here’s a step by step guide on how you can set your date and time to automatic on an iPhone:

  1. Firstly, visit your phone’s settings.
  2. Tap on “General”.
  3. Tap on “Date & Time”.
  4. Now, turn on the switch for, “Set Automatically” to set your date and time automatically.
  5. After doing that, force close Instagram’s app in your background.
  6. Now, go to Instagram, and stories should be back on your timeline.

Here’s a step by step guide on how you can set your date and time to automatic on an Android device:

  1. Firstly, visit your phone’s settings.
  2. Tap on “Date & Time”.
  3. Tap on “Automatic” to set your date and time automatically.
  4. Now, force close the Instagram’s app in your background.
  5. Lastly, go to Instagram, and stories should be back on your timeline.

After setting your date and time settings to automatic, stories should return on your timeline.

After setting your date and time settings to automatic, don’t forget to force close the app before you open it again.

But when you set your date and time to automatic, you must force close the Instagram app before you open it again.

Otherwise, your stories won’t show up on Instagram.

If you want to force close Instagram on an iPhone X or later, swipe up and pause, find Instagram, after that swipe up to close it.

To force close Instagram on an older iPhone, double-tap on your home button, locate Instagram, then swipe up to close it.

Alternatively, if you’re using an Android, go to your settings, tap on “Application manager”, tap on Instagram, then tap on “Force stop”.

As a result, it will re-sync the date and time on your android with Instagram.

Method 2. Delete your Instagram stories from a desktop

The second method to fix Instagram stories from not showing up is to use the desktop version to delete all your Instagram stories.

If you used to use a music sticker or any other sticker in one of your stories, removing it from a desktop will cause stories to show on your feed again.

If you have used a music sticker or any other sticker in one of your stories, it may cause a glitch and IG stories will not be shown.

To fix it, your task is to delete your Instagram stories from a desktop via Instagram Web.

Here’s a step by step guide on how you can delete your Instagram stories from a desktop:

  1. Firstly, visit Instagram on your desktop.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Go to your profile.
  4. Tap on your story on your profile picture.
  5. Now, tap on the “triple-dots” icon at the top-right corner.
  6. Select “Delete” to delete your Instagram story.
  7. Now, repeat the process on all of your stories to delete them all.

Instagram stickers (especially the music sticker) are known to cause problems on Instagram.

If you used a music sticker on one of your stories, it may prevent the stories of other people from showing up on your timeline.

Therefore, deleting your stories from IG via Instagram web using a desktop will fix stories from not showing up.

Similarly, as per the first solution, make sure to force close the Instagram app and then open it again.

Otherwise, stories may unable to show up.

How to prevent Instagram stories from not showing up

Now that you have fixed the error, you need to take some measures to prevent the error from happening again.

Whenever you get an error on Instagram, it can be really hard to fix it.

Instagram support is unreachable, so the best way is to prevent these errors from happening again.

The main reason is that Instagram support is unreachable.

If you ever tried to contact them before from the app, you should know that you will not get a reply from them.

Therefore, you should always prevent errors before they can occur again on Instagram.

Here are a couple of ways that you can use to prevent it from happening again.

Measure 1. Don’t change your date and time

The first measure you need to take is to not change the date and time from your phone’s settings.

When you change your date and time from your phone, it can cause errors in some apps.

An incorrect date and time may result in issues on the Instagram app.

Whenever you change your date and time, set it back to automatic.

The main cause of certain issues in some apps is an incorrect date and time.

On Instagram, changing your date and time will prevent stories from showing on the timeline.

The reason for this issue is that Instagram is not synced with your date and time.

In order to avoid Instagram stories from not showing up, you have to ensure that your date and time settings are set to automatic.

In any case, if you have changed your date and time due to some reason, don’t forget to change it back to automatic.

Measure 2. Try not to use Instagram stickers

The second thing you should do is to do not use Instagram stickers in your stories.

Certain Instagram stickers might cause problems on the app.

In order to avoid stories from not showing up on your feed, try not to use Instagram stickers while posting a new story.

Some Instagram stickers might result in glitches in the app.

For example, if you are using a music sticker in one of your stories might prevent other people’s stories from showing up.

To avoid this, the best measure is to try not to use any stickers whenever you’re posting a story.

Final Words

In this post, you’ve successfully learned how to fix Instagram stories from not showing up.

To recap, here are a couple of ways you can use to fix it:

  1. Set your date and time to automatic.
  2. Delete your Instagram stories via desktop version.

The two main reasons for the issue are an incorrect date and time, and an Instagram sticker.

Setting your date and time to automatic and removing stories that have a music sticker will resolve it.

How to Fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram

Last Updated on July 18, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you getting a “No Internet Connection” error on Instagram and looking for a way to fix it?

If yes, the features will not load or work on the app.

If you visit your feed or profile, you will not be able to refresh it.

It will also restrict you from following/unfollowing people, commenting, or liking any posts.

In most cases, your internet connection works fine but you still see the error.

In this post, I will tell you why Instagram says “No Internet Connection” and how to fix it.

Why does Instagram say “No Internet Connection”?

Instagram says “No Internet Connection” because the app is not connected to the internet.

You can get this issue if your internet speed is too slow/not working or when Instagram is down.

If the speed of your internet is too slow, your internet will not be able to connect to Instagram.

The reason is that when the connection takes too long to connect, as a result, it times out.

In some cases, Instagram might be down for every user and you are not alone.

In this case, Instagram will show you that you don’t have an internet connection even though your internet is fine.

How to fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram

To fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram, the first thing you need to do is to check if Instagram is down.

If Instagram is down, the best way is to wait for a few hours so it will be back up.

If IG isn’t down, you can update IG app or try switching your network, or wait for 24-48 hours.

There is another way you can try which is also recommended by the Help center of Instagram that is, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Method 1. Check if Instagram is down

First of all, you should check if Instagram is down.

There are a couple of ways you can use to find out if Instagram is down.

The first method is to visit this site downdetector.com and search for “Instagram”.

After opening it, check if you see a spike in the number of reports.

If there is a spike, it probably indicates that the app is down for everyone.

In this case, your best bet is to wait for a few hours for the servers to be back up.

You can also monitor the graph and see if the spike has decreased with time.

You can use another method to see if Instagram is down by searching for “Instagram down” on Twitter or the exact issue that you’re getting.

After searching for it, the next step is to check the top and latest tweets to see if there are people complaining about it.

Method 2. Change your network

The second method to fix the “No Internet Connection” error on Instagram is to change your network.

It is happening because the internet speed of your connection is very weak.

Your internet speed can be checked on speedtest.net.

If your internet speed is a lot lower than 2 Mbps, it indicates that you have a slow internet connection.

In this case, you’ll face the “No Internet Connection” error because it takes too long to connect.

To fix this, the best way to deal with it is by changing your network from Wi-Fi to mobile data and vice-versa.

You can also choose an alternative Wi-Fi network for connecting.

After changing your network, force close the Instagram app, reopen it, and check if the error still persists.

Method 3. Update Instagram to the latest version

The next way is to update Instagram to the newest version.

To begin with, open the App Store or Google Play Store, search for the term “Instagram”, and tap on “Update” to update it.

Some Instagram updates have bug fixes that will fix the existing errors on the app.

Therefore, you need to ensure that you always have the newest version of IG.

If you already using the latest version of Instagram, the next step is to wait for another update.

Instead of updating the IG application, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

The cache on Instagram will be removed and the app will be updated to the latest version.

Method 4. Wait for 24 to 48 hours

If everything fails, the last method is to wait for 24-48 hours for the “No Internet Connection” error to disappear.

Instagram errors will eventually go away on their own after some time.

For instance, if you are unable to follow or unfollow people on Instagram, you’ll be able to do it again after waiting for the given time.

If you’re facing the “No Internet Connection” even though your internet connection is fine, it indicates that the problem is not with your internet.

Instead, the servers of Instagram are down and you cannot do anything to fix it except wait for them to be up again.

How to Fix “We’re sorry, but something went wrong” on Instagram

Last Updated on July 18, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you getting a “We’re sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again.” error on Instagram and looking for a way to fix it?

If yes, you won’t be able to use certain features on the IG app.

For instance, your feed might not load or the search function may not work.

You can also face log in issues because it can also prevent you from logging in.

In this post, I will tell you why Instagram says “We’re sorry but something went wrong” and how to fix it.

Why does Instagram say “We’re sorry but something went wrong”?

Instagram says “We’re sorry, but something went wrong” when Instagram is down.

If Instagram is up, it may occur because your IP address is temporarily blocked.

Your IP address will be temporarily blocked if you perform too many actions at one time on IG.

An example of carrying actions too many times is following or unfollowing too many people.

A username of @harrysflat published a tweet that they kept seeing the error when they open the app.

There are some other users who were also complaining about the issue on Twitter.

Certain features on the app will not load or work due to this issue.

For instance, your Instagram feed might not load any posts on the app.

How to fix “We’re sorry, but something went wrong” on Instagram

To fix “We’re sorry, but something went wrong” on Instagram, the first step is to check if Instagram is down.

If Instagram is up, you can update the app or try switching your network, or wait for 48 hours.

If you already using the latest version of Instagram, wait for a new update to be released.

A new update will be sent to solve the current issues on the app including the “Something went wrong” error.

Method 1. Check if Instagram is down

Before you try to fix the “Something went wrong” error, the first thing you need to do is to check if Instagram is down.

There are a few methods to ensure if Instagram is down.

The first method is to visit this link downdetector.com/status/instagram.

After opening that link, check if there’s a spike in the graph.

If you see a spike, Instagram is most likely down for every user and not just you.

In this case, you need to wait until the servers start working properly (this will usually take a few hours).

There is another method you can use is to search for the “Instagram down” on Twitter or the issue that you’re getting.

Go through the top and latest tweets and see if anyone is tweeting about the issue you are getting.

The issue will be on a global level if there are a lot of tweets saying that Instagram is not up.

Method 2. Switch your network

The second way is to change your network.

In some cases, you got the “Something went wrong” error because they have blocked your IP address temporarily.

You can face it when you’ve carried out an action repeatedly on the app.

However, the system can also block your IP address mistakenly.

To fix the error, you need to change your network from mobile data to Wi-Fi and vice-versa.

You can also use another Wi-Fi to connect it.

After changing your network, force close the Instagram app, reopen it, and check the error should be fixed.

Method 3. Update Instagram

Instagram frequently sends new updates to get rid of bugs and improve the app’s performance.

If there is an existing bug on the app, you will receive a new update from Instagram to fix it.

If you are not using the updated version of Instagram, go to the App Store or Google Play Store and update it.

After updating Instagram to the newest version, open it and check the error should be gone.

Instead of updating the IG application, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

The app’s cache will be cleared with this process and Instagram will be updated to the latest version.

Certain errors on the app get fixed by clearing Instagram’s cache.

Method 4. Wait for 24 to 48 hours

The last way to deal with it is by waiting for 24 to 48 hours.

Most of the errors on IG will be fixed after 24 to 48 hours.

The errors can be “Try again later” and “Couldn’t create thread” errors.

I saw a user on Reddit who said that the error message disappeared after a day.

If Instagram is not up, the app will usually be back up after a few hours.

You can check the graph of IG by going to DownDetector.

If there is no increase in spikes there, it means that the app is functioning properly.

However, if the spike on the site is still high, the error message will remain present.

How to Get Instagram Notes

Last Updated on July 14, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Instagram Notes is a new feature that enables users to share their thoughts.

Users can share notes with mutual followers as well as with close friends.

Mutual followers stand for your followers that you’re following back.

However, only a limited number of users are able to access the “Notes” feature.

The reason behind it is that the feature is in the testing phase before Instagram decides to make it available to everyone.

In this post, I will tell you what are Instagram notes, how to get them, and how to use them.

What are Instagram notes?

Instagram notes allow you to share what your thinking is with your friends on the app.

You can share notes with your mutual followers or the list of your close friends.

Similar to IG stories, IG Notes will disappear in 24 hours.

On Twitter, I have seen a user named @ahmedghanem who is one of the first few users who tweet about the feature.

The caption of what he tweeted, “New: #Instagram is testing new Notes feature, you can share notes only with your close friends list or the followers you follow back”.

Unfortunately, a lot of users complained about the option on Twitter.

Some users complained that they didn’t like the feature and others said that it was “annoying”.

The length of notes can be up to 60 characters and users will not receive notifications about them.

If you don’t have the feature, it shows that it is not available for your region yet.

How to get Instagram notes

  1. Firstly, update Instagram to the latest version.
  2. Go to Instagram.
  3. Tap on the direct message icon.
  4. Now, tap on “Leave a note” (the plus button).
  5. Then, type your note.
  6. Send the note to your mutual followers or close friends.

When you share a note on IG, people will not be notified of it.

However, they can view the note as well as reply to it too within 24 hours of span.

Your notes can be shared with your mutual followers or close friends.

You will not be able to share notes with your followers that you don’t follow back.

Everyone does not have this feature because Instagram notes are currently in the testing phase.

If you don’t have the feature, you have to be patient and wait until it’s rolled out to you.

Here’s a statement of a spokesperson from Meta, “We’re now testing Notes so people can quickly share thoughts with their friends”.

The idea of this option is the same as tweets on Twitter.

Social media apps are trying to copy the features of one another.

Instagram is famous for it because it wants to remain at the top of social media.

How to Fix Instagram Notes Not Showing

Last Updated on July 14, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are Instagram Notes not showing in your direct messages and do you want to know why is it happening?

In June 2022, Instagram is testing a new “Notes” feature on the app.

The feature enables users to post disappearing content with quick notes.

Quick notes are like announcements that can be posted for your “Close Friends”.

You can also share the quick notes with your followers that you follow back.

Quick notes will disappear in 24 hours same as the Instagram stories.

The option was first discovered by Ahmed Ghanem on Twitter which shows the “Notes” option above the direct messaging screen.

Why are Instagram Notes not working?

Instagram Notes are not working because the feature is not present in your location yet.

Instagram confirmed that they are testing the “Notes” feature on limited users.

Therefore, some people may get the feature while others don’t.

If you have the option, it can be used by going to the direct messages screen.

After reaching there, tap on the plus button to add a new note.

After that, you have to select who you want to share the note with.

You can share the note with your followers that you follow back or with the list of your close friends.

It is same as the Instagram stories, the note that you’ve shared will vanish in 24 hours.

If you don’t want to see the notes of other people, you can mute them like how you’d mute the stories of others.

How to fix Instagram notes not showing

To fix Instagram notes not showing, the first step is to update the app to the latest version.

To begin with, visit the App Store or Google Play Store, search for “Instagram”, and tap on “Update”.

If you’ve updated the app to the latest version but Instagram notes are still not working, it indicates that it’s not available in your region yet.

In this case, you need to wait until the feature is available in your location.

According to Instagram, the “Notes” option is currently in the testing phase.

It clearly states that Instagram has not released it to everyone yet.

Only a limited number of users got access to this option.

Additionally, it’s not confirmed that Instagram will release it globally.

If a lot of users will not use the feature during the testing phase, Instagram might not launch it.

In fact, a lot of IG users are complaining about the feature on Twitter.

A tweet from the user named as @mathiustwain, “How do I turn off these Instagram notes, a lot of unfunny ppl thinkin they funny”.

Here’s another tweet by a username of @ogjjoseph that contains more than 200 likes, “Instagram wants to be twitter so bad tf is that new notes update”.

And another user @edbenhin tweeted, “Who asked for this Instagram update? Like what is the purpose of the notes”.

From all the complaints, it seems like Instagram is trying to copy tweets on Twitter using notes.

How to Fix Instagram Messages Deleted Automatically

Last Updated on July 7, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are your Instagram messages deleted automatically and do you want to fix it?

Do your messages disappear when you send them even though you didn’t delete the messages?

Are you unable to find your old chats and are they gone?

You can see these kinds of bugs and glitches all the time on Instagram.

In most cases, they occur due to the recent update of Instagram.

In this post, I will tell you why your Instagram messages delete automatically and how to fix them.

Why do my Instagram messages delete automatically?

Your Instagram messages delete automatically because you or the other user has turned on vanish mode on IG.

You can send disappearing messages, photos and videos using vanish mode.

After updating the messaging feature on Instagram, you can enable it.

After enabling it, when you send a message, the message will disappear when you leave the chat.

Automatically deleted messages on IG can also occur because of a bug on the app.

There is a great chance that the bug is caused by the latest Instagram update.

If so, you have to wait for a follow-up update to be released and as a result, it will be fixed.

How to fix Instagram messages deleted automatically

To fix Instagram messages deleted automatically, the first step is to turn off vanish mode.

If Instagram is down, you need to wait for at least 48 hours, update the app, or uninstall and reinstall it.

Unfortunately, if the other user has also enabled vanish mode, you won’t be able to prevent your messages from getting deleted.

The user needs to disable the vanish mode to retain your and their messages.

Method 1. Turn off vanish mode

  1. Firstly, go to Instagram and go to your profile.
  2. Tap on the message icon.
  3. Now, go to the chat.
  4. Tap on the info icon.
  5. Lastly, turn off “Vanish mode”.

After turning off the “Vanish mode” your messages will not be automatically deleted on Instagram.

However, if the other person enabled “Vanish mode”, your messages will be deleted automatically.

Therefore, you have to ask them to switch off “Vanish mode” too.

Method 2. Check if Instagram is down

After disabling vanish mode, if the problem of your messages getting automatically deleted still persists, you need to check if Instagram is down.

The first method you can use to check if Instagram is down is to visit DownDetector.

After going to DownDetector’s site, search for “Instagram” and view the graph.

If the graph contains a huge spike, it shows that Instagram is probably down for everyone.

The second method you can use to check if Instagram is down is to visit Twitter and search for the term “Instagram down”.

In addition, you can also use the search bar for the issue that you are getting.

After performing the search, check the “Top” and “Latest” tweets.

If you come across a lot of complaints about “Instagram down”, it indicates that there’s most likely an outage.

Method 3. Wait for 48 hours

After a while, some errors on Instagram will be resolved automatically.

Therefore, it’s recommended that you wait for more or less 48 hours to see if your messages are working again.

If it’s due to a server error, Instagram’s engineers will take some time to fix it.

In short, you have to do nothing to solve the issue but wait it out.

Method 4. Update Instagram

The final way you can try to fix Instagram messages from getting deleted automatically is by updating Instagram to the latest version.

If you’ve recently updated the IG app, it might have caused some bugs.

If that’s the case, you will get a follow-up update from Instagram to resolve the issue.

Therefore, you have to check for the new update if there’s an update for Instagram on the App Store or Google Play Store.

Under “What’s New”, the updated information will be available.

If the update shows, “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements”, it will fix the glitches and bugs.

Therefore, you have to update the app as early as possible.

On the other hand, you can uninstall and reinstall the app, to begin with a new slate.

When you uninstall and reinstall Instagram, the errors will be removed and the app will be on the latest version.

If the app does not have a new update, the best bet is to wait for it to be released.

How to Fix Can’t Receive Messages on Instagram

Last Updated on July 6, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you unable to receive messages on Instagram and do you want to fix it?

If yes, you are in the right place.

Did someone send you a Direct Message but you didn’t receive it?

You can verify it from another Instagram account by sending a DM to your main account.

If you’re unable to send or receive messages, it indicates that there’s probably a bug on IG app.

The bugs have become common on Instagram now.

If you’re facing it now, there might be a problem with the latest Instagram update or the app is down.

In this post, I will tell you why you can’t receive DMs/messages on Instagram and how to fix it.

Why can’t I receive messages on Instagram?

You can’t receive messages on Instagram because the app of Instagram is most likely down.

If it is down, the best way is to wait for 24 to 48 hours for it to be back up.

In some cases, you have to wait for a new update that resolves the messaging bug.

A lot of Instagram users are complaining about the glitch on Twitter.

A user named @bizarrecoser tweeted, “Are anybody else’s Instagram DMs not working? Like I can’t receive messages and also not send any”.

Along with, “Quite annoying, I hope it’s just a bug and will get fixed soon”.

A user named @NotyourAlexaa complained, “Apparently I can’t send or receive messages on Instagram. Is anyone else facing this?”.

If you can’t receive messages on Instagram right now, you are not alone who are facing it due to the global outage.

How to fix can’t receive messages on Instagram

To fix can’t receive messages on Instagram, the first thing you need to do is to check if Instagram is down.

If IG is down, the best way is to wait for 24-48 hours to be back up or update Instagram to the newest version.

The last Instagram update might result in a messaging issue on the app.

In this case, you need to wait for the latest update to be released to fix the glitch.

Method 1. Check if Instagram is down

To get started, you need to ensure if Instagram is down.

If you can’t receive DMs/messages on Instagram, it is happening because the app is down.

You can check it by going to DownDetector or Twitter.

On DownDetector, search for “Instagram” and have a look at the graph.

If you come across a spike in reports, it means that Instagram is probably down.

To confirm this, you can go to Twitter and search for “Instagram down” or the issue that you’re encountering.

Check the top and latest tweets to see if the issue is available on a global level.

In addition, check the tweet replies available on Instagram’s Twitter profile.

If Instagram is down, a lot of IG users will be tweeting about it.

Method 2. Wait for 48 hours

If you can’t receive messages on Instagram, the system might have blocked you temporarily from messaging.

You will be blocked when you sent too many consecutive direct messages.

If so, Instagram flags you as a bot and blocks you from sending or receiving messages.

The block is typically available for 48 hours.

If you didn’t send any messages recently but you still are unable to receive the message on IG, it is due to a bug.

In this case, your best bet is to wait it out and you’ll be able to get messages again.

In short, you have to do nothing to fix the error as it’ll be automatically removed.

Method 3. Update Instagram

You can use another way that is to update Instagram to the latest version.

This is ironic because some Instagram updates come with bugs or glitches.

If so, you will have to wait for the next update to resolve the previous update.

Therefore, it’s normal if you are receiving various updates for the app in a week or two.

If an update consists of “Bug fixes and performance improvements”, you need to update the app.

On the other hand, you can also try to uninstall and reinstall the app to clear the cache.

As a result, you will be upgraded to the latest version of IG.

How to Fix Instagram Messages Not Sending

Last Updated on July 6, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are your Instagram messages not sending and do you want to fix it?

If yes, you are in the right place.

When you try to send a DM to someone, it may not send and fail.

Otherwise, it can also be stuck on “Sending…” even though you’ve waited for a while.

If you’re facing this issue, there’s probably a bug on the app due to an update.

Some Instagram updates contain bugs that will be fixed in future updates.

In this post, I will tell you why are your DMs or Instagram messages not sending and how to fix it.

Why are my Instagram messages not sending?

Your Instagram messages are not sending because Instagram is not up.

You can also encounter it if you sent too many direct messages at one go.

If you send too many direct messages in one time, Instagram will temporarily restrict you from sending messages.

The block may last for 24-48 hours.

If you’ve updated the Instagram app recently, there might be a bug on the app.

The bug can stop the direct messages from sending.

Therefore, the issue is not happening from your end, but on Instagram.

In this case, you need to wait for Instagram to send a new update to fix the bug.

How to fix Instagram messages not sending

To fix Instagram messages not sending, the first thing you need to do is to check if Instagram is down.

If it is down, wait for IG to release a new update to solve the issue.

Once they release an update with “Bug fixes and improvements”, you need to update the app.

In some cases, you can send messages again on IG after 24 to 48 hours.

Method 1. Check if Instagram is down

The first thing you need to do is to check if Instagram is down.

You can use two places to check if Instagram is down.

Firstly, you can go to DownDetector website and search for “Instagram” there.

After searching for “Instagram”, have a look at the graph.

If there is a spike in the graph, it indicates that the application is down.

The second place to check if Instagram is down is to use Twitter.

To begin with, visit Twitter and search for the terms “Instagram Down” or the problem that you’re facing.

For instance, if you can’t send messages on the app, you can search for “Instagram not sending messages”.

In the end, check if anyone tweeted about the issue in the “Top” and “Latest” tabs.

You can also visit Instagram’s Twitter profile and see the replies to their latest tweets.

Usually, the users complain about the latest bug or glitch that they are experiencing on IG.

Method 2. Wait for 24 to 48 hours

The second way is to wait for 24-48 hours and you’ll be able to send messages on IG again.

If you have sent too many messages at one time, Instagram will block you from DMing people temporarily.

The block can last for a few hours, after 48 hours, it will be lifted from your account.

Instagram released the temporary DM block to prevent automation, bots, and spammers on the app.

In some cases, they might block you mistakenly.

Having said that, you have to wait it out to lift the block from your app.

In other words, you do not have to do to resolve the issue.

The temporary block can also occur if you violate Instagram’s Community Guidelines in your direct messages.

In this case, the error message will have the exact duration that you’re blocked for (e.g. 15 hours).

Method 3. Update Instagram

The last way is to update Instagram to its latest version.

Instagram sends new updates regularly, especially if there are bugs on the app.

Having said that, some updates will come with new bugs to the app.

If you’ve recently updated Instagram to the latest version but you can’t send messages, it might be happening because of a bug.

In this case, you need to wait for Instagram to send a new update to fix the bug.

Therefore, you need to check the App Store or Google Play Store to get an Instagram update.

If an update shows “Bug fixes and performance improvements”, you should update the app as early as possible.

In addition, the app can be uninstalled and reinstalled instead of updating it.

This will clear the cache of the app and update it to the latest version.

If the update is not released yet, you need to wait for it.

How to Reply to NGL Messages on Instagram

Last Updated on January 1, 2024 By Arsalan Rauf

You can get anonymous messages from your Instagram followers with the help of NGL.

When you get a message, the message will be sent to your NGL inbox.

Post an Instagram story in order to reply to the message.

The NGL app contains a one-tap reply feature that you can use to get the job done.

This way, you don’t need to take a screenshot of the message and add it to your story manually.

In this post, I will tell you how to reply to NGL messages on Instagram on your story.

How to reply to NGL messages on Instagram

To reply to NGL messages on Instagram, the first step is to open the message that you want to reply to.

After doing so, you need to tap on “Reply” and it will create a story automatically for you.

In the end, reply to the message by using a text and posting the story.

Currently, there is no limit to the number of NGL messages you can answer to.

Step 1. Open a message

First of all, go to the NGL app and tap on “Inbox”.

You need to receive some messages first to reply to an NGL message.

If you don’t have any messages, you must post a link of your NGL on your Instagram story.

After posting your NGL link to the story, the next thing is to wait for your followers to send you messages.

In your inbox, you need to open the message that you want to reply to.

On the other hand, all of your messages can be opened individually and reply to the one(s) that attracts you.

Step 2. Tap on “reply”

After tapping on a message, you’ll be able to view it.

To reply to the message on IG, you need to tap on “reply”.

If you don’t want to reply to the message, you need to tap on the “X” icon and choose another message to reply to.

Your inbox might contain inappropriate messages, so you don’t have to reply to all of them.

Step 3. Reply to the NGL message

After tapping on “reply”, it will open the Instagram app.

Now, it will create a story automatically for you.

The story will have the NGL message as a bubble.

By adding a text and typing your response, you can reply to the message.

For instance, if the message is, “Hello”, you can respond with, “Hey, I hope you’re fine”.

In addition, you can shift your reply to the top or bottom of the NGL message.

After that, you need to tap on “Your story” to post your reply as an Instagram story.

If you want to restrict all of your followers from seeing it, tap on “Close Friends” to post the story to your close friends.

However, you need to have a close friends list to make things work.

After 24 hours, your reply will be removed automatically like any Instagram story.

NGL messages are anonymous, so you cannot determine the sender that who is the sender.

If you want to know who sent you an NGL message, you can do it in your reply.

You can use this as an example to reply to them, “DM me if you’re the one who sent me this message”.
