To fix Sourcetree not starting on Windows, the first thing you need to do is to clear the current update in the “Atlassian” folder.

If it does not fix the error, the next step is to uninstall and reinstall the client.

Solution 1: Clear the current update

1. Go to the File Explorer and follow these steps: > This PC > Local Disk (C:).
2. Users > Your user > View > Show > Hidden items.
3. App Data > Local > Atlassian.
4. After that, delete all folders other than the “SourceTree” folder.
5. Go to SourceTree and open it, and complete the registration process.

You can also find the “Atlassian” folder by using the Windows search and typing “%appdata%”, after that, choose the “AppData” tab, and select “Local”.

Solution 2: Uninstall and reinstall Sourcetree

1. Use the windows search to search for “Control Panel”.
2. Then, select “Uninstall a program”.
3. Right-click on Sourcetree and select “Uninstall” to uninstall it.

5. After downloading it, complete the installation process and open Sourcetree.
